Union County Divorce Records
Divorce cases (termed "dissolution cases" in New Jersey) filed in the county are heard in the Family Division of the Union County Superior Court. The final divorce judgment and other related filings are maintained by the Superior Court Clerk’s Office and contain vital information about the divorce, mainly the date the divorce judgment was entered, the Superior Court’s stamp and seal, the county where the divorce judgment was entered, the docket/case number, and the names of the parties.
Case parties often use the divorce judgment officially for property transfers, remarriage eligibility, updating beneficiary info, and name changes. Divorce records in Union County are only available to case parties and their attorneys. Third parties can only obtain divorce records from the superior court clerk’s office with a court order. A requester will need the names of the case parties and/or the case or docket number to furnish a record request.
